Bedroom Shelves

Image
I needed a place to put my sewing machines, our cameras, and some other things. So Nick built shelves for our bedroom. We just bought unfinished 1X2. Then we bought the finished shelving in black. We also bought black stain. He cut the wood to the size we wanted and then I stained it. He then cut a notch out of the shelves to attached the wood to. Then he used screws and attached it all together. It’s so nice! I just love it!

Xander’s Old Bedroom

Image
When we finished Xander’s room in the basement, he was 8. He wanted a Big Hero 6 room and he loved purple. We painted the one side of his room a dark purple and put up Big Hero 6 vinyl stickers. At the time no where had them, but we were able to find them online. Unfortunately I didn’t get a picture of them 🤦🏻‍♀️ or his room before we changed it. I don’t know what I was thinking. We also bought him some POP figurines that are Big Hero 6. Colleen made him curtains and even painted the curtain rod to be Baymax! He had a bed like Lydia’s, but it was black. We painted his desk darker to match better. He took down his vinyl stickers and wants his room changed. He has some license plates from our neighbor and would like to put those up. We will post another day when it’s all finished!

Lydia's Room

Image
In March of 2018 (yes, we know this was over two years ago.  We are way behind and just starting to catch up) we were able to create Lydia's room. Tyler was potty trained.  So he was able to get out of the crib and moved into Zain's room with him on the bunk bed. Lydia loves Frozen and pink.  So we found her a bed set and went from there.  We had these little woodland critters for Brichette, but she obviously out grew them.  So they went to Lydia and she is so happy with them.  However, with our walls being textured they don't stick very well (if we ever have Nick build us a house, we are NOT having textured walls!) and are constantly falling off.  There is also a matching picture holder that is on the opposite wall. Colleen made curtains for her window: We added some of her drawings and paintings to the wall along with her class picture.  We found some glow in the dark unicorn stickers. We also added the cheer picture she made at chee...

Brichette's Bedroom

Image
Nick built two rooms in the basement. Along with the storage, bathroom, and shelves. Xander's room was done in 2015, and we got Brichette's done in 2017. We wanted to do something more grown-up for her, so we decided to go with a Paris theme. We painted the walls to match her bedding.  She is using my old daybed.  We bought her a night stand and matching dresser.  Nick's younger sister gave us two desks that they were getting rid of.  We changed Xander's to a dark color, and changed Brichette's to white to match the rest of her furniture in her room. My friend from high school printed of the vinyl's. I bought the wood B's from Michaels and painted them myself.

Zain and Tyler’s Bedroom

Image
We haven’t been able to decide on what to do for Zain and Tyler’s room. We had a couple ideas and then we watched the movie 🎥 🍿 “The House With a Clock in its Walls”. They loved the boy’s bedroom with the moon 🌙 phases and we decided to do outer space. We painted a dark blue for the base. Once it dried (couple days) we put streaks of purple, light purple (mixed white and purple), green, and blue-green (mixed green and dark blue) on the walls, then used a sponge 🧽 and went over it with the dark blue (same color as the base) and purple. We then used a paint brush and splattered the white on to look like stars. ⭐️  We ordered vinyl glow-in-the-dark solar system 🌎 with stars 🌟 and shooting stars 🌠 and plastic glow-in-the-dark stars ⭐️ for the ceiling.  The camera 📸 on my phone 📱 couldn’t pick up the glowing very well, but they do glow really good! Also, Nick and I found a rocket ship 🚀 tent/canopy at Target on clearance! 👏🏻 They are so happy and excited! ...
