The Weird Places Tigger Sleeps

Image
Tigger is always sleeping in silly and weird places. Today I found him sleeping in a basket of clean socks in the laundry room.  lol

Dryer Lint Filter

Image
I was surprised to find out that most of the people I talked to only clean their dryer filter out every once in awhile. 😱 Did you know that every year over 3,000 house fires in the United States are caused because the lint filter was not cleaned out? It only takes a few seconds to do, and should be done either before or after each load. Ever since I can remember I have cleaned it out AFTER each load. That way when I’m all done with the laundry for the day it’s all clean for the next time. So please, get in the habit of cleaning the lint screen/filter!

Why I Wash Our Sock Separate

Image
So I have always washed our socks with all our other clothes. Our whites wouldn’t stay white for long and I wasn’t sure why... Then I was talking to a friend a couple years ago and she said she washes their socks separately. At first I was like... another load to wash. I don’t have time. But then I decided to try it. Holy Moly... it is a game changer! Our whites stay white and it’s not to big of a deal to wash another load once a week. If you aren’t washing your socks separately... you totally should start! I bought this hamper at Harmon’s. It stays in the laundry room, so when I’m separating clothes I just throw all the socks in it. When it’s full (about once a week. Remember we have 7 people in our house, and some wear more then one pair a day) I throw them in the washer, with the Biz, Laundry Detergent, and Fabric Softener. Then just dry them on high! It does take some time to sort through them and fold them, but it’s worth it. To make it easier, I have an order to where each ...

Sensitive Skin - Laundry

Image
Growing up my mom used Tide Laundry Detergent and Downy fabric softener. It never bothered me and I have never had a problem with sensitive skin. When I married Nicolas, I found out that he could only use a certain detergent. So for a good portion of our marriage we used Fab. It’s was hard to find. We could only find it at one store. So we switched to All Free and Clear about 9 years ago. We haven’t tried other detergents to test the kid’s skin, because we didn’t want to risk Nicolas’ skin getting itchy and dry. When my mom has washed the kid’s clothes before they complained about their skin itching. So... All of our kids have sensitive skin too. Here is what we use. Our main detergent is All Free and Clear. We usually buy it at Costco, but sometimes we will buy it somewhere else with a coupon. We also stock up on it when it’s on sale. I don’t think I’ve bought it for at least a year. Yeah, when I say stock up I mean it. Lol! We can only use Snuggle brand fabric softener. Snuggle brand...

Laundry Days

Image
Several years ago I decided to make a laundry schedule. I felt like I was constantly doing laundry and at the same time not being able to keep up with it. So I wrote down which laundry I would do on which day. It’s been very helpful, and I don’t have to do laundry on Saturday (I’ve never done laundry on Sundays). It’s not perfect (I have Nick’s work clothes written on two days. I actually do them on Friday), but it works for our family. I only have to do laundry 5 days of the week, and it’s only a couple loads so it’s not even all day. I do wash all of our socks separately. I just wash them when the hamper in the laundry room is full, which is about every other week.
