This Is Us

  For Brichette’s last prom she went with some of her best friends.  This year was tough with COVID and not being able to do much. Luckily they were able to go to prom. Here is her hair: We put her hair in hot curlers. We then took them out. I did two loose braids and crossed them. Then added the hair clips.

In February Brichette went to the Sweethearts Dance. She went with friends from the play and had a great time. I helped her with her hair again. I did a braid on each side of her head. Pulled on the pieces in the braid to flare it out some. Then we curled the bottom hair and added flowers and sparkly jewels. I think it’s so pretty, and my daughter is gorgeous!  

  Lydia started cheerleading this summer. She loves it so much! She loves to do gymnastic 🤸🏻‍♀️ type things all the time, but gymnastics is expensive and we couldn’t really find anything close to our house. When we found out she could do cheer and it wasn’t that expensive, we were so happy. She has to have her hair up for practices. So here is one of the hair-do’s I did. I did an off set part. French braided the two sides a little. Put an elastic at the end of the braids to hold them. Pulled all her hair up into a ponytail. Made a hole in the ponytail and pulled her hair from the bottom up through the hole. It looked so cute!  

  When I was little my mom would braid mine and my sisters hair before bed. This kept it from getting tangled while we slept. It also made our hair “crimped”. Yes, I have naturally curly hair 👩🏻‍🦱, but it wasn’t curly until I was in I think about kindergarten and then it went curly and was so hard to keep from getting tangled. So when Brichette was younger, and even sometimes now, I would braid her hair after her bath or shower and it wouldn’t be so hard to brush in the mornings. Now with Lydia, even though her hair is curly, I braid it every night before bed. In the mornings we take the braid (or braids) out and just run my fingers through it. If she wants it curly, we get it wet and put a little coconut oil in it. It helps so much with brushing their hair in the mornings, especially before school.  Most nights we just do one braid, but sometimes we do two or three, which makes the “crimp” smaller. This is what it looks like from one braid.

In April of 2019 Brichette went to her first Dance.. Prom.  We searched and searched for a pretty modest dress that wasn't outrageously priced.  We ended up settling for the one she wore.  It wasn't to expensive, was kinda modest, and was pretty. I did her hair.  I really enjoy created hair styles. I did two braids across the top of her head, then pulled on them to fan them out and loosen them up.  I then pulled all her hair into a ponytail a little to the side.  After it was all in a ponytail, I put another little elastic and pulled the middle through so the ends didn't come through (I made a big loop).  Then I parted the loop in half and wrapped the elastic around one half.  Then fanned it out.  We added a bedazzled clip and some little jewels, that you "screw" into the hair (you twist them into the hair until they are in as far as you want and won't fall out).  We also pulled a few hairs out by her face.

Melissa tired something new with Brichette's hair and it turned out pretty cute. She did one french braid on each side of her head, then combined them into one, once they reach the back of her head. It wasn't hard at all! What do you think?

On Saturday we went to my friend's Mother's funeral and then went to my cousin's son's baptism (WOW, that's a mouth full). We were getting ready and the kids looked at us and said "Is it church today?" We said "No", then they asked why they had to wear their church clothes. We explained that the funeral and baptism take place in a church and we want to show respect to them and to Heavenly Father. They still didn't want to wear their church clothes, but were a little better about putting them on. I pulled Brichette's hair up and I think it looked pretty cute. Here are a couple pictures: I did the zig-zag on the top and pulled into 2 pony tails. Then I parted the bottom into two and pulled the top pony tails into it. The last twist of the hair tie, I only pulled a some of the hair through and created a loop. She was very excited and told me how cute she looked. * While I was taking the pictures of her hair, Xander had to sneak in with an ad...

On Saturday I pulled Brichette's Hair up for the baseball game (I will post that tomorrow). This time she wasn't to upset about having it up, thank goodness. I got the middle section of her hair and started a french braid. Once I reached the part in her hair in the back I stopped braiding (it's about the middle of that small "pony tail") and put a thin plastic tie in . Then I pulled the two sides up, joined it with the middle, and put a scrunchie in it. The last loop I only pulled half of her hair through and let the ends drap over the scrunchie. I think it turned out pretty cute, but see for yourself.

So a couple weekends ago I was in a creative mood and pulled Brichette's hair up. I separated it into three pony tails just on the upper half of her head. I then separated the bottom half into two sections, pulling the left half with the one pony tail from the top and half of the middle one. Doing the same thing with the right side. Then I put all of her hair into one. She didn't want me to pull her hair up at first, but after it was done and she saw it, she was very excited about it. She asked if I would pull it up again like that. I told her "Yes". Anything to get it out of her face. Here are some more pictures of it from different angles: She actually wore it like that all day, without complaining or asking if she can have her hair taken out. This was the weekend we got all the Hechtle Grand kids picture taken (see blog: How Does It End???), so I took them out and just put one in. It made her hair a little wavy.
