Sunshine and Warmer Weather

Image
It's starting to get warmer!  I am so excited for the warm weather.  It was so nice today that we spent some time out in our front yard! For Mother's Day last year, I got  This Patio Set .  I wanted one so we could sit in the front yard and have some shade. It was so nice to be able to sit in the front yard and watch my kids play.

Wedding Dress Shopping - Part 2

Image
Today we went to Fantasy Bridal to find a wedding dress for Brichette.  They would only allow Brichette to have 3 guests and they wouldn't allow any children.  I thought about bringing Lydia anyway, but I didn't want to mess up the appointment.  So we decided to just FaceTime Lydia on her iPod so she could see all the dresses that Brichette tired on.  After talking with the lady who was helping us, she said that the reason they won't allow children is because another customer brought there kids and they ended up stealing hundreds of dollars worth of jewelry and accessories.  Plus they were rowdy and annoying.  We told her that Lydia wasn't at all like that, and she said we should have called and talked to them so we could have brought her.  Oh well... I'm very pleased with the lady that we had the appointment with.  She was so helpful and kind. Brichette tried on so many more dresses before find the one she loved.  It's similar to the one she liked at David

Our Chickens - Taking Them Outside

Image
Today it was warm enough that we could take our sweet ladies, Bluey and Bingo, outside.  Pullets (adolescent hens) can only be outside full time if the temperature is constantly above 50 and after they have slowly been taken outside for a few hours at first, then adding a few hours more and more to add up to a whole day.  This is to get them used to the weather. After they have been outside all summer, they will be fine with fall, winter, and spring, because they will be used to it. We are so blessed to be able to have chickens and I wish we could have more.

Metal Garden Boxes

Image
On Saturday we (I mean Nick) not only built  this trellis  but he made some of our garden boxes taller with metal that he had. We moved our strawberries over so we could get rid of all the stupid weed grass stuff.  We need to do the other two boxes. It's so nice to have them taller.  It's easier to weed, when we need to, gather the fruits/veggies, and see what needs to be done. This is what they looked like before. This is Lydia and Tyler helping me move the strawberries over.

Lightening

Image
Lightening is so pretty! Yesterday when I went to pick up Zain from school, there was a big storm coming in with lots of lightening. Do you know how lightening happens? This Article  explains it so well.  You should read all about it!

DIY Garden Trellis

Image
We needed to close off our garden area because Rooben kept getting in the garden beds and making a mess. We went to the hardware store and got stuff to make a trellis for the blackberries, a gate, and close off the end. Lydia and Tyler got to ride with everything on top of them. Lol!  Zain did a great job helping Nick get everything built and put up. We used the plastic lattice and treated wood. Hopefully it lasts a long time. We took Rooben to Lowe’s and he was pouting because he had to be in the shopping cart. 😆 🛒  Tigger climbed on the ladder to help! 😆 🐈‍⬛ 🪜

Tulips

Image
We have had tulips growing in our front yard since we moved to this house in 2011 (they didn’t bloom until spring 2012). There were only red and yellow. We’ve added a lot more, although some only bloomed once, which is weird. Did you know: There are over 150 species with over 3,000 different varieties. The flower buds are almost perfectly symmetrical. Most of them only have one flower, but there are a few varieties with 2-4 flowers. They only bloom for 3-7 days in the springs. They are part of the Lilly family. They come in almost every color. They are native to Central Asia. They became popular after reaching The Netherlands. It’s the symbol for The Parkinson’s Disease Foundation. They used to be the most expensive flower. In the 1600’s in the Netherlands they cost 10 times the average salary, which made them more expensive than some houses. From 1634-1637, when it was most expensive, this time was known as “Tulip Mania”. Their petals are edible and can be used in place of onions. T
