Spring Break 2023 - Day 3

 It was April 1st, which means it was April Fool's Day.  Nick and I woke up to a "spider" hanging from our fan. haha





Lydia and I did another workout from Grow With Jo, ate breakfast, got ready, made lunch, and then headed out.




We drove over to Leeds to go to the Ghost Town called Silver Reef.  Before we went there we stopped at a little trading post to look around.













Then we tried to go on a hike in Leeds, but there were so many people.  There wasn't even a spot to park. So we gave up.  We ended up stopping at Quail Creek State Park.  We had lunch, played in the water, and they even had an RC Car course that we could drive the cars on.  It was awesome!























We went back over to Fort Zion to see if the petting zoo and "play houses" were open, and it was.  The kids had fun feeding and petting the animals.















The last thing we did this day was went swimming at the clubhouse pool that the house we rented had.  It was a little chilly, but not to bad. 















After we went to Iceberg and got dinner.

Here is our Pink Chicken Coop that we did ourselves. We built it in 2019. Nick built it and the kids and I painted it. He came up with the plans, after showing him some I liked, and built it. Then Brichette painted the Sunflower 🌻 and bee 🐝 on it for me. It wasn’t very hard to build and didn’t cost much. I love it so much!  We added party lights and pink lights for the night. 🤩

Popcorn

Today is National Popcorn Day (along with National Tin Can Day and Get to Know Your Customer’s Day). We love popcorn! 🍿 We eat it all the time.  We like to make our own, but also like the white cheddar Smatfood popcorn, kettle corn, caramel popcorn, from the movie theater, and even some gas stations. Today I made caramel popcorn. I got the recipe from Nick’s mom. You can find the recipe  Here Xander got this popcorn maker as a white elephant gift. This is the white cheddar popcorn we like. Did you know… Popcorn is over 5,000 years old. World War II’s sugar shortage led to Americans to eat 3x more popcorn. It’s gluten free Nebraska produces more popcorn than any other state. Unpopped kernels are called Old Maids Americans eat 17 Billion quarts every year. It’s the state snack of Illinois. What are your favorite flavors of popcorn?

Brichette's Bridals

  I love to take photos.  It is so enjoyable for me.  I took Brichette's Bridals for her wedding.  We went to a church downtown because they have a huge garden area with a stream running through it. I know I'm not the best photographer, but I do enjoy it. :) Brichette painted her shoes herself! She did an amazing job (like she always does)!
