Sourdough Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies

Image
I have had my  Sourdough Starter  for almost 2 years now! About a year ago I started putting it in a lot of recipes, but especially dessert recipes. I looked up some sourdough pumpkin recipes and adjusted them for me. So here is my recipe for them. I do have to add more flour being at a high altitude. If you are not, you won’t need as much flour. Sourdough Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies Ingredients: 1/2 cup Salted Butter 1 tbsp Pumpkin Spice 1/4 cup Sugar 1/2 cup Dark Brown Sugar 1/3 cup Pumpkin Purée 1 tsp Vanilla 1/2 cup Sourdough Starter (fed or unfed) 2 cups Flour 1/4 tsp Baking Soda 1/4 tsp Baking Powder 1/2 tsp Salt 1/2 cup Mini Chocolate Chips Directions: Preheat oven to 375°. In a small saucepan brown the butter stirring frequently. It takes about 5 minutes over medium heat and will have a nutty aroma. Remove from heat and stir in the pumpkin spice. Set aside to cool (under 100°). While it’s cooling, in a large mixing bowl; mix the sugar, brown sugar, pumpkin, v...

This Is Pretty Fun!

A little while ago we decided to take the kids up the canyon to have a picnic for dinner and look at the different colors on the trees. Once we got everything together and got up there is was dark. We found a picnic area, and parked, but wasn't sure how far away it was from the parking, so we just sat in the car and ate. After we were done eating, we turned the light out in the car so we could looked at the stars, and the kids decided it would be fun to play in the dark car. They did some silly things and asked Melissa to take pictures so they could see what they looked like. We were laughing so hard. Then they pretended to be asleep on Nick, and had fun trying to move around each other in the car. It was a really fun night, and we can't wait to do it again.

Little Ghosts, Goblins, and Tinkerbell?!

On Friday, I took the morning off so I could go to Brichette's Halloween Parade at her school. Nick was going to but then they told him that the roof on the house had to be done by Friday. So Nick assumed that meant that he couldn't take the morning off and went into work. When he got there his boss looked at him and said "What are you doing here? I thought you weren't coming in until 10:00 or so?" Nick told him that he thought the roof had to be done so that's why he came in. So we weren't very happy about Nick missing it. Lorena, Xander and I went inside, after dropping Brichette off with her class. We saved my parent's a seat, and waited for them. The night before I had asked my mom if she wanted me to give her a wake-up call, and she said "No. I should be fine. I'll set the alarm, and your day is working from home." I said okay and left it at that. About 10 minutes before her parade started they still weren't there. So I called th...

All The Pretty Autumn Colors...

Image
Almost a week ago we drove up Big Cottonwood canyon and took Guardsman Pass over to Park City. All of the autumn colors were beautiful, and it was very peaceful. The kids enjoyed driving and seeing the changes that nature goes through. It was a little chilly, and it even sprinkled a little bit. The kids did fall asleep for a little bit, but not for very long. We got out of the car and looked over the cliff at the 2 old cars that had crashed down there. Nick said that him and his best friend Troy did a lot of 4-wheeling up Guardsman Pass when they were in High School. The kids asked if we could go there again and have a picnic. I told them that, that was a great idea and we for sure would have to plan on doing that. I love how excited they get about things that Nick and I enjoy doing. Here are some pictures: We loved the contrast of the two hills... Dark green on one side and all shades of green, yellow and orange on the other side. The sun is trying to shine through the thick clouds. T...
