National Winnie The Pooh Day

Image
Did you know that today is National Winnie the Pooh Day? Ever since I can remember I’ve loved Winnie the Pooh. Nick has always liked Tigger. So when we got married, Nick’s older sister made us a cross-stitch for our wedding present. Our oldest daughter painted me a canvas and  These Shoes! Nick bought me a Lego set. Here is some information about Winnie the Pooh and A.A. Milne.

Painted Shoes

Brichette loves to paint. She recently found out that she likes to paint shoes. She painted these shoes for herself: She then bought more white shoes, and painted them for me. She is such a sweetheart! Here are mine: Didn’t she do a great job? Those bees... 🐝 aren’t they wonderful?!

Lydia's Room

Image
In March of 2018 (yes, we know this was over two years ago.  We are way behind and just starting to catch up) we were able to create Lydia's room. Tyler was potty trained.  So he was able to get out of the crib and moved into Zain's room with him on the bunk bed. Lydia loves Frozen and pink.  So we found her a bed set and went from there.  We had these little woodland critters for Brichette, but she obviously out grew them.  So they went to Lydia and she is so happy with them.  However, with our walls being textured they don't stick very well (if we ever have Nick build us a house, we are NOT having textured walls!) and are constantly falling off.  There is also a matching picture holder that is on the opposite wall. Colleen made curtains for her window: We added some of her drawings and paintings to the wall along with her class picture.  We found some glow in the dark unicorn stickers. We also added the cheer picture she made at chee...

Our New Laundry Room

Image
When we moved in to our house over 8 years ago, the laundry room has been half finished. It had half the Sheetrock up, half painted, and was dark and dreary. Well, we finally finished it and I couldn’t be happier. It’s so “fun” to do laundry now! Our kids helped with all of it from framing in the walls, to mudding, to painting.  It was framed weird, so Nick had to fix it and put more in. The little parts that were painted were a dark gray. It was so awful. The kids helping: The process of finishing it: We put wainscoting on the back wall and new flooring. The finished product! Isn’t it wonderful what hard work can do? Nick built pedestals for our washer and dryer so we can put the laundry baskets under neath. We put a sink in, which is amazing. I can prewash and pretreat clothes, rinse things out, was my hands... it’s so great! We put cabinets in for all the soap, fabric softener, dryer sheets, etc. I just really love it!

Zain and Tyler’s Bedroom

Image
We haven’t been able to decide on what to do for Zain and Tyler’s room. We had a couple ideas and then we watched the movie 🎥 🍿 “The House With a Clock in its Walls”. They loved the boy’s bedroom with the moon 🌙 phases and we decided to do outer space. We painted a dark blue for the base. Once it dried (couple days) we put streaks of purple, light purple (mixed white and purple), green, and blue-green (mixed green and dark blue) on the walls, then used a sponge 🧽 and went over it with the dark blue (same color as the base) and purple. We then used a paint brush and splattered the white on to look like stars. ⭐️  We ordered vinyl glow-in-the-dark solar system 🌎 with stars 🌟 and shooting stars 🌠 and plastic glow-in-the-dark stars ⭐️ for the ceiling.  The camera 📸 on my phone 📱 couldn’t pick up the glowing very well, but they do glow really good! Also, Nick and I found a rocket ship 🚀 tent/canopy at Target on clearance! 👏🏻 They are so happy and excited! ...
