Spring Break 2022 - Bryce Canyon

For Spring Break we went and stayed in Kanab and went to Bryce Canyon. Brichette wasn’t able to get off work, so we had to go without her. It was hard not having her with us, but that’s part of growing up… Hopefully we can go again with her.

We drove down Friday and stayed until Sunday. It was a short trip, because Nick has been working so much and couldn’t get more time off, but it was still really fun.

Friday we spent most of the day driving. We stopped at a rock shop in Orderville. They had the cutest little village and yard decorations. There was a raptor made out of metal, a water wheel, and a photo op.

When we got to Kanab, we checked into our room (we stayed at the Hampton) and then we ate dinner at a smaller diner there. It was close so we walked. They were so busy we had to wait 45 minutes for our food. Once we got our food and got done eating we walked back to our room and went swimming. It was fun, but the pool water was so cold. Which is weird since it was an indoor pool.

Saturday we got ready and ate breakfast from McDonald’s in the car (the Hotel breakfast was packed). Then we went to the Best Friends Animal Sanctuary and pet the kittens/cats they had there. We wanted to take a tour of the 1,000 acre Sanctuary, but all their tours were full.

Then we headed to Bryce Canyon. Just outside the park there was a place to rent ebikes. So we did and they were SO MUCH FUN! Outta Here Ebikes is where we rented from. Tyler rode with me and Lydia rode with Nick. It was a really fun way to explore Bryce Canyon. We were going to ride them back down to Red Canyon, but the wind got so bad, we couldn’t breath or see from our eyes watering, that we decided to take them back.

We went to Ruby’s Diner for dinner. It was okay, but we wouldn’t go there again.

On our way back to our rooms, we found a Butch Cassidy hike. It was hard to see where the trail was, so we ended up walking in the washout. It was so fun and the color of the sand and rocks were so wonderful! The hike was 9 miles, but it started to get cold and trying to rain so we only went a couple miles.

Then we went back to the rooms. Our kids wanted to go swimming again, but I was to tired and Nick and I didn’t want to get in the cold water again. So we sat by the kids. Then we watch a little TV and went to bed.

Sunday we woke up, ate breakfast in the hotel, and then headed home.

We stopped at another rock shop and got ice cream. We were sitting in the car and I saw this lady walking her dogs. As I looked closer, it was Melissa from Bless This Mess. I was in shock… I jumped out of the car and yelled Melissa. She turned around and we chatted for a little bit. She is so kind and it was such a joy to talk with her and get to know her more.

I didn’t get many pictures on the way home, because I am not good and remembering. I am having so much fun that I forget. Which is strange because I am a very visual person and like to see things. 🤣

So these are the only ones I got.

Tyler was getting blown away from Lydia’s window being down. 🤣
