Early Valentine's Day!

We decided that since we teach primary on Sundays, that we would celebrate Valentine's early. So Friday afternoon we dropped the kids off with Melissa's parents (Thank You Dad and Mom for watching them!), and we drove to Wendover. Nick got us a room at the Montego Bay Hotel and Casino. We just love their rooms. They are newly remodeled, and have flat screen tv's, two queen beds, and are just really cool. Well you all should know how Nick drives... it took us an hour and 10 minutes to get there. It usually takes around 2 hours. When we checked in, Nick asked if the new section was finished. The lady said Yes, then asked if we would like a room in there. So we got a brand new room. It still smelled like new carpet, so cool. It was nice to have a night to ourselves, and get away from all the stress.

Saturday morning we woke up, watched TV, and then Nick went and got us breakfast at McDonald's. We were so into this movie that we only had about 10 minutes to get ready before we had to check out. We stopped at the gas station and got snacks then headed home.
We decided to stop and go see the salt flats. Well we didn't get to see them because they are covered in water. It's like a lake out there. The sign says that in the winter they are covered like that, then in the spring they start to dry up and by summer they are dry.

Then we enjoyed our drive home, and picked up the kids. Melissa's parents were going to Wendover that night.

The mountains on the drive out to Wendover. It was really dark and cloudy, and it was snowing once we were about 10 minutes away from Wendover.


We loved how the clouds looked on the mountains. It was really cool.


I love this guy so much! He is so wonderful!!!

Here is our Pink Chicken Coop that we did ourselves. We built it in 2019. Nick built it and the kids and I painted it. He came up with the plans, after showing him some I liked, and built it. Then Brichette painted the Sunflower 🌻 and bee 🐝 on it for me. It wasn’t very hard to build and didn’t cost much. I love it so much!  We added party lights and pink lights for the night. 🤩

Popcorn

Today is National Popcorn Day (along with National Tin Can Day and Get to Know Your Customer’s Day). We love popcorn! 🍿 We eat it all the time.  We like to make our own, but also like the white cheddar Smatfood popcorn, kettle corn, caramel popcorn, from the movie theater, and even some gas stations. Today I made caramel popcorn. I got the recipe from Nick’s mom. You can find the recipe  Here Xander got this popcorn maker as a white elephant gift. This is the white cheddar popcorn we like. Did you know… Popcorn is over 5,000 years old. World War II’s sugar shortage led to Americans to eat 3x more popcorn. It’s gluten free Nebraska produces more popcorn than any other state. Unpopped kernels are called Old Maids Americans eat 17 Billion quarts every year. It’s the state snack of Illinois. What are your favorite flavors of popcorn?
