Yellowstone

In October 2019 over the long UEA weekend we went with my parents to Yellowstone. We rented a really nice cabin. It was cold and snowed most of the time we were there. We didn’t think about it snowing so we didn’t pack beanies or gloves, but luckily the little convenience store by the cabin had some.

The cabin we rented was updated and so nice! My parents took the master bedroom with the bathroom attached. We took the other bedroom on the main level, which was by the second bathroom. Zain took the one bed in the loft and Brichette and Lydia took the other bed. There was a bedroom up by the loft with a bed, which Xander slept in, and had a little toddler bed which Tyler slept in. There was another bathroom up by them. The kitchen and dinning area were all open and so nice to cook and eat in. There was a living room and the entry way into the house was the laundry room. We really loved the cabin!

We went to Yellowstone, which we’ve all been before, but it was different to see it all covered in snow. It was so pretty! We had to wait for half and hour in the middle of the road because there was a herd of bison crossing. It was so neat, they were right by the cars.

I love bison!

We got to see lots of Elk also.

We walked around and saw geysers.

We drove around and saw some pretty scenery.

We packed sandwiches for lunch and sat in our cars to eat at the Old Faithful lodge. Then Zain and Tyler were to cold to get out and see Old Faithful, so I stayed in the car with them and Nick took Brichette, Xander, and Lydia to see it.

We walked around and went in some of the stores by Old Faithful. Then we went back to the cabin.

The next day we got up and played some games and made cinnamon rolls for breakfast.

The kids had so much fun playing in the cabin and with the toys that the owner had there.

We were going to go back to the city West Yellowstone in Montana, but it was snowing so bad that we got stuck on the road for awhile and decided to turn around and come back. We took pictures while we were stuck on the road.

Once we got turned around and got back by our cabin, we found a restaurant to eat at. It was the last weekend they would be open, until next year in the spring, so we were lucky.

They were out of some food, but we were all able to find something to eat.

On our way back to the cabin we stopped and got treats and popcorn so we could have a movie night. My parents had already rented Toy Story 3 so we watched it.

Tyler had fun drawing on the dry erase board.

The next day we packed up and came home. My dad had to get the rental car back, but we wanted to try and get over to West Yellowstone. So he said we could and he would head home and get the rental back.

We were able to get there and shopped in all the shops that were open. The kids got souvenirs and we ate lunch at a BBQ place. Their fryer wasn’t working so the kids didn’t want to eat (except Brichette), so we got them McDonald’s afterwards. Then we headed home. We stopped at yet McDonald’s again in Tremonton for dinner.
