Another Fun Getaway - Day 2

The next day we woke up, ate breakfast, got ready and headed to Vernal to the Dinosaur Quarry.  We didn't leave when we planned to, because Lydia got a bloody nose.  She has never had one before, so we think it was to dry and her body was used to the swamp cooler at home (Nick and the boys need it so they don't get bloody noses in the summer).  We got her all cleaned up, a cold rag on the back of her neck, and a whole box of tissues for her to take on the ride, just in case.
We drove through the canyon and got to the quarry.  We had to wear masks and we had to make reservations online for the tram that went up to the dinosaur wall.  Our time was 11:30-12:00.  We could go anytime between that half hour.  We walked through the visitor center/gift shop to where we had to wait.  We waited in designated areas for the tram (numbered with numbers.)  Once it arrives the people coming back down, get off and go around us, and go in the doors to the visitor center.  Then they clean the whole tram.  It pulls up to us, and we sit in the number seats that we were waiting in.  We have a row behind and in front of us that is empty.  Because there was 10 of us, we had two rows.  It's about a 5-minute ride up to the wall.  Along the way they tell you about the different types of rocks, formations, and what they think went on up there millions of years ago.  Once you're at the top, you get off the tram and walk up the ramp into the building.  You are at the tip of the building and get to see the dinosaur bones in the wall.  They have some old videos from one of the first digs there.  Then you walk down the ramp, and they have some displays of dinosaur bones, replicas of whole dinosaurs our of bones, and a spot where you can touch the bones in the rock (don't climb on it though!).  There is hand sanitizer everywhere.  Once you are ready to leave, you walk out the doors in the bottom (they have it so you go in one entrance and out the other for help with social distancing).  You walk over to the benches that are covered and the worker gives you a letter for you row on the tram (we had two rows again).  The letter rows are in between the number rows.  That way they can block off the rows they want and only have to clean the tram once a round trip, instead of twice.  It gets crowded waiting to go back down, so we had to wait for the second time the tram came before we could get on.  We got back down, and looked around the visitor center and gift shop.  Once we were done and everyone used the restroom, we headed in to Vernal to get lunch.

Zain rode with Dieter, Colleen, and Alex.

Once we got to Vernal, we got lunch from Arby's (drive-thru and ate in the car).  Then we went to Smith's and got some stuff that we forgot (isn't there always something you forget?)  All the kids, but Xander, got a picture with the big Pink Dinosaur.  Then we headed back to our trailers.

Zain and Alex wanted to go play in Flaming Gorge so bad, so Dieter took them. The rest of us were to tired and needed to relax.

The kids played and Nick, Colleen, and I got dinner ready. It was tin foil dinners. We had chicken, potatoes, peppers, onions and carrots. We cut everything up in chunks (except the onions, we cut those in rings) and added oil, salt, and pepper. Then wrapped them in tinfoil and cooked them in the hot coals.

*Hint*
If you put the tin foil in a bowl it makes it easier to put everything in and wrap up!

I forgot to take a picture of them all done. 🤦🏻‍♀️ But they were really yummy!

Here is the sunset from that night.
