Hawaii - Day 5 - Kauai

Day 5 -

So today we were trying to decide on what to do. We remembered that yesterday we drove past the Kauai Coffee Plantation, and decided to stop by there. We aren't coffee drinkers, but thought it would be cool to see the plantation.

It's was okay. They had free coffee tasting... you could taste every kind of coffee they make, but since we don't drink that didn't excite us. We did get some ice cream and a drink. I got Banana (Nick didn't want any) and Nick got a Sierra Mist (they didn't have Mt. Dew, he was so bummed). I found the cutest key holder for your purse:
It slides on the edge of the purse and on the other side it has a clip so you can clip your keys to it. This is wonderful! Now I don't have to dig for my keys.

We didn't spend much time there and drove back to a trading post that we had seen earlier. They had some really neat stuff and we got some more souvenirs. On the tree outside of the store they had a sign hanging. It was so funny, it said: "Please clean up your mess... your mother doesn't work her." I laughed as I was talking a picture of it, and Nick looked at me like I was crazy for taking it. The tree also had very pretty blossoms on it.

Then we went up North and found a beach with crystal clear water and very little waves. There were condos and vacation homes across the street. So we got the number and thought that the next time we go there (hopefully in 2 years) we will rent one of those.

We drove as far north as we could go... to the end of the road. They have a lot of one lane bridges so if there are cars coming you have to Yield, no matter which way you are coming from. It's so crazy, but it actually works.

At the end of the road there are some really cool caves, which they didn't want you going into because the water wasn't very clean and could have lots of germs. Then across the street from one of the caves we played at another beach. Where we got to see another gorgeous sunset. There were sand crabs on every beach, but on this one most of them were pretty big. The one I got a picture of must have liked me because he wasn't scared at all, and when Nick would try to come over he would flip sand at him and stand really tall. Almost like he was protecting me. It was funny. We took some more pictures and found a really cool shell. We aren't sure what kind of animal it was from, but it's colors were very pretty.

This beach had a coral reef they were trying to re-grow, so there were only a couple spots that you could go out in the water, but the waves were really big so we just played in the sand and looked for seashells.

Then on our way home it rained for about 5 minutes. That was the first rain our whole trip, and it was while we were in the car. It was great.
