Hawaii - Day 7 - Kauai

Day 7 -

So today we woke up really early because we had to be at the dock by 7:50 so we could board the ship and take our Na Pali Cruise Tour on the Catamaran (sail boat).

We met at the office and then the captain walked us down to the ship. It's a no shoes ship, so we had to take our shoes off, and leave them on the dock. I thought that was so cool, because I love not wearing shoes.

So we boarded the boat, they went over safety tips, and we were off. They gave us breakfast, which was good, it was cinnamon rolls, fresh fruit and drinks (soda and water). Once the boat got out in the ocean, every once in awhile you would see flying fish jump out of the water fly away from the boat and dive back into the ocean. It was so cool. I got a picture of them, but you have to look really hard to see them.

About 10 more minutes and we came to a huge family of dolphins. They were so cute and loved the boat. There are two points that come off the front of the boat, and we were able to get some fun up close pictures of them from that spot. The boat would help them so they didn't have to swim as hard, and they loved splashing in the wake from the boat. We got some really fun pictures of them.

Then we came to the Na Pali Shore, which is the side of the Kauai Island that you can't drive to. There were some caves, beautiful beaches, and very clear water. They had blocked off the run off form the mountains, so that is what makes the water so clear. In one of the caves there was a hole in the top and a waterfall coming through it. It was very beautiful. Also on one of the beaches there was another seal resting. I would have loved to have gotten a little bit closer, but we couldn't.

We reached the end of the coast and turned around. Just a little after that, we came to another family of dolphins and one was really showing off. He or She would jump out of the water and spin, then SPLASH back in the water. It was so fun, and really cute to watch.

We stopped in a little cove, where the Green Sea Turtle's lay their eggs (but it's not the right time of year for that), and snorkeled and some scuba dived. You didn't have to be certified to dive, but Nick and I just wanted to snorkel. It was really cool, because the fish would make a circle around you when you first got in the water. Once they were used to you, they would go about doing their own things. They would swim right in front of your face, by your legs. It was really neat. You could see the bottom, and see where the lava had formed land and made little gullies under the water. SO COOL!!!

Once we got out of the water and back on the boat, they served us lunch. We had sandwiches, with some kind of salad (which Nick and I didn't try), fresh vegetables, and cookies. They also served Mai Tai (how ever you spell it), but Nick and I just had sodas. While we were eating they headed back. About half way back the waves got really big and would come through the trampolines they had on the front of the boat (between the two points of the boat) and spray all of us with water. It was so fun. A lot of them went underneath, but I couldn't because I would get sick, plus we were really having fun! So we just kept our stuff under there.

Once we got back and to our car we weren't sure what to do. We only had a couple hours before we had to leave for the airport. We decided to drive down a street off the main highway, which had more trees covering it. Once we got there we saw a sign for the Spouting Horn. We weren't sure what that was but thought it would be fun to check it out. We came to it, and parked. They had a little flee/farmers market with really cool stuff. I got a sign that has sand and shells (from the beaches there) that said: "Mahalo for removing your "slippers" (instead of slippers it has a wood carving of flip flops), Aloha". I was so excited. I had seen them all over the place but they were really expensive, and weren't that cute. But this one really caught my eye and it was a great price. So when you are over to our house (once we get a new one) you will be able to see it. Then we found the Spouting Horn. It's where the waves push water through a lava rock formation. It almost looks like a geyser. It's so cool.

Then it was time to go and get cleaned up. Our Hotel had a late check-out of 6:00 that was extra. That way we could get cleaned up and we didn't have to find a place to keep our luggage and everything. So we got back to our room, showered, finished packing and then said goodbye to 5 day Kauai home. We drove over to Costco and got gas, then returned the rental. They took us to the airport. We boarded the plane at 8:30 P.M. and arrived in L.A. at 5:00 A.M. Sunday Morning. Our plane didn't leave until 8:00, so we grabbed a bite to eat, and st down. Nick let me lay on his lap and sleep for an hour or so. We tried to sleep on the plane, and got a couple hours, but it wasn't to good.

We arrived back home in Utah at 10:50 A.M. Sunday morning. My parents took us to breakfast, since we didn't eat dinner and barely had anything for breakfast. Then they so graciously let us come back to their house and sleep in their bed for a couple of hours, and watched the kids again. That was wonderful. And actually Xander climbed up with us and fell asleep too.

So that is our Hawaii trip for our 10 year Anniversary!

Thank you Nicolas for taking me there, and giving me 10 wonderful years! You are a wonderful Husband and Father, and I am so blessed to have you! I LOVE YOU!!!
